The primary function of the IISSM is to organize short-term training courses - both thematic and customised - on different aspects of industrial security and safety management. The response to thematic programmes not being very forthcoming, the current emphasis is on customized programmes at nominal costs. The courses have been greatly appreciated. Some of the programmes organised in recent years are:
IISSM successfully organsied 6-day special Professional Certification Training Course on Advanced Methodologies in Bank Security Management organised exclusively for bank security executives in Kolkata on September 26 – October 1, 2005 at Calcutta Club Limited.

IISSM organsied 10-day Special Training Programme for Sudanese security executives between August 17 and August 26, 2005 at New Delhi. These executives were from the Security Division of Greater Nile Petroleum Operating Corporation (GNPOC), a consortium of Sudanese Chinese Malaysian and Indian companies.
IISSM organised 6-day Training Course on “Professional Certification” at The Himalayan Heights Hotel, Gangtok on June 3-8, 2005.
IISSM organsied four very significant 1-day Workshops on a subject of very topical relevant “Safety, Security and Disaster Prevention in Academic Institutions”. These were organized at Dehradun (February 22), Patna (February 24), Ranchi (February 25) and at New Delhi on February 26, 2005. The Principal Instructor in these programmes was one of IISSM’s long-standing faculty Mr. Raj Lakha, Chief Executive of Safety Solutions (UK).
Mr. Raj Lakha, Chief Executive, Safety Solution (UK) Ltd, is a long-standing faculty of the IISSM. An acknowledged authority in Disaster Management, he was in Delhi and conducted ½ day Seminar (February 21, 2005) on Disaster & Emergency Management Systems (DEMS) – managing complex risk and threats. The Seminar was held at the premises of the Institute of Social Sciences, 8, Nelson Mandela Road, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi – 110 070.
IISSM took up a new assignment with AIMT (Atmajain Institute of Management and Technology) at Ambala where a 1-day programme was conducted on October 7, 2004, for a batch of 60 2nd year MBA trainees affiliated with Kurushetra University.
A programme was conducted for DIG & DGPs of the Tamilnadu Police, Delhi Police and the Intelligence Bureau, Government of India, in September, 2004, on “Threat Analysis and Planning Countermeasures”.
In September, 2004, one day programme was launched on ‘Image Building for IPS Officers” at the Institute of Management, Lucknow.
IISSM helped design and conduct a six-day of Security Orientation Programme at the Indian Institute of Coal Management (IICM) at Ranchi on July 6-10, 2004.
IISSM had promptly reacted to the theft of Tagore’s Noble Prize from Santiniketan and offered expert consultation to the authorities concerned. IISSM also made an effective contribution on April 29, 2004, at a National Seminar organsied by National Museum Institute on “Museum Security” in New Delhi
IISSM helped the Kolkata Chapter hold a very successful 1-day Seminar at Taj Bengal, Kolkata, on March 19, 2004, on “Security and Fire Safety – Trends & Technologies”. It was organised in association with the Confederation of Real Estates Developers Association of India (CREDAI).
Two two-day long training programmes on November 21-22 & November 28-29, 2003 for security personnel of the level of Security Officers, Areas Officers and Area Managers of the Vision Security Group, an ISO-certified security company.
On March 27-28, 2003, a two-day Workshop on "MANAGEMENT OF RISK, SAFETY AND BUSINESS CONTINUITY" was organized at Chennai with Mr. Raj Lakha of Safety Solutions (UK) Ltd, as the principal instructor.
On February 14, 2003, IISSM, on request from a major group of industry, conducted a one-day briefing programme at Chandigarh for their senior non-security executive on "Industrial Security vis-à-vis Management" and "INDUSTRIAL SECURITY: AN INVESTMENT IN PROFIT."
The IISSM also rendered consultancy SERVICE TO THE INDO BURMA PETROLEUM COMPANY LIMITED, Mumbai, when it carried out security of some of their field units in Maharashtra and UP in May-June, 2002.

A 3-DAY SPECIALISED ORIENTATION PROGRAMME for selected members of the Core Group of the Security Solutions Division of M/s. Tata Honeywell at Pune on May 27-29, 2002.
A 6-day residential programme on INDUSTRIAL SECURITY for the Graduate Trainees of the Security and Intelligences Services (India) Limited, at their Training Centre at Belchampa, Anushasanpuram, District Garhwa, Jharkhand State, on April 8-13, 2002.
In 2000, 2-day long training programmes on PHYSICAL SECURITY: ANALYSIS AND MEASURES at Banglaore (July 8-9), Nagpur (July 17-18), Ranchi (July 20-21) and at New Delhi (July 25-26).
