Invitation to X11th Annual international Seminar
IISSM - 2002

Dear Friend,

It can be said without any fear of contradiction that the terrorist attack on the twin towers in New York on september 11, 2001, marks a definite turning point in history, rather human civilisation. The consequences of the failed attempt on the Indian Parliament on December 13, 2001, the same year could possibly have been far more devastating. Terrorist acts of varying magnitude are taking place in different countries all over the world. Resultantly, the authorities concerned are breaking their heads how to contain this menace effectively. Practising security professionals should, therefore, contribute their mite by joining this process at various levels. The IISSM has accordingly selected the theme of this year's annual international Seminar scheduled at Hotel Taj Coromandel Chennai, India, on December 17-19, 2002 as "Terrorism - its Threats to Industrial Security and Effective Preventive Measures Needed." In order that the deliberations in the Seminar could prove of practical utility to the professionals on the ground, specialised presentations / panel discussion have been planned on possible impact of terrorist acts and threats on areas like aviation security, banking security, hotel security, software security and overall corporate and industrial sector. Security experts and thinkers of repute are, therefore, being brought together on this occasion to share their experience and suggest what the security practitioners in the field of industrial security management could do in this matter in their respective fields of responsibility.

You are indeed cordially invited to join this highly professional and purposeful programme. Intending participants are also welcome to send in advance brief case histories of terrorist related problems - solved or otherwise - to facilitate more meaningful discussion on practical issues during the course of the Seminar.

Best regards,
Yours sincerely,

(D.C.Nath)
