Terrorists storm temple in Gujarat

Terrorists have entered a temple in Indian State of Gujarat's capital Gandhinagar and resorted to indiscriminate firing, killing at least 37 persons including Indian Security personals and injuring several others on 24th September 2002.The terrorists entered the Akshardham temple belonging to the Swaminarayan sect around 1700 hours and fired at devotees.

In an operation the longed for about 12 hours security persons killed both the terrorists and put an end to the siege.

Nepali Maoists kill 48 policemen

Forty Eight police personnel were killed when Maoist insurgents overran a security post about 110 km southeast of Kathmandu early on 8 th September.

Qaeda confessed Sept 11, says jazeera.

Arabic television station Al-Jazeera said, it had confessions from two men identified as members of Osama bin Laden?s Al Qaeda network claiming the group was responsible for the September 11 attack.

Al Qaeda takes new name, is regrouping

The Al Qaeda has regrouped with surviving Taliban and like-minded local tribesmen hundreds of miles north of where the US and Pakistani troops are hunting them in Afghanistan and are scouting for Chinese air-to-air missiles to blunt the American air power, the Christian Science monitor reported.

US to fingerprint visitors from terror states

The US authorities are planning to begin photograph and fingerprint visitors from countries on the State Department's list of terrorist sponsoring states. US justice department spokesman Jorge Martinez said visitors from other countries would also be fingerprinted if US authorities believe they pose an elevated national security risk. The department will initiate security restrictions that will require fingerprinting at US entry points.

Alarmed by the arrests of nine men suspected of terrorism in Sweden and the Netherlands in recent days, European intelligence and police authorities say they fear that a next wave of attacks by Islamic extremists might involve small operations difficult to detect and stop.

30 die in Kabul blast

A massive car bomb ripped through central Kabul on September 5, 2002 outside a government ministry, killing up to 30 people and injuring 50 others. The attack comes just days before the September 9 anniversary of Northern Alliance commander Ahmed Shah Massoud's assassination and the anniversaruy of September 11 terrorist attack in the US.

Three strikes against terrorism

Pakistan and the U.S. scored a memorable victory against al-Qaeda with the arrest of Ramzi Binalshibh. Two other suspected al-Qaeda members were killed and at least 10 were detained in a series of raids in Karachi.
