Jane's Information Group has a deserved reputation for practical, useful publications. It's new Jane's Workplace Security Handbook continues that tradition. This almost-pocket-sized handbook is full of detailed checklists and procedures for planning, responding to, and recovering from virtually any type of workplace security threat.
Written by a team with impressive credentials under the leadership of an editor who has over 22 years of law enforcement and corporate security experience, this handbook has ten major sections: planning, facility security, personnel security, travel security, information security, emergency response procedures, crisis communications, critical incident stress, organizational recovery, and sample policies. Within each section, the authors provide informative overviews and background information, along with checklists and model procedures that can give a security professional a leg up on planning and preparation for various scenarios.

Jane's Workplace Security Handbook can't be a security professional's single reference (if such a thing exists) for preparing and planning for potential violence in the workplace. However, it's reasonable cost and convenient format, coupled with its portability and excellent content, make it a worthwhile addition to your personal library.

Food For Thought

A revolution is not a dinner party, or writing an essay, or painting a picture, or doing embroidery; it cannot be so refined, so leisurely and gentle, so temperate, kind, courteous, restrained and magnanimous. A revolution is an insurrection, an act of violence by which one class overthrows another.
