Registration of security agencies is now mandatory 

New Delhi – Jan.8 – To keep a check on the activities of private security agencies, their registration with the Delhi Police has been made mandatory.  The police have formulated guidelines, and circulated to the 9 DCPs and other important units, which these agencies would have to fulfill for registration.  “They should be given training as to how to deal with the intruders and other situations too,” added the Commissioner of Police.

TN women commandos raring to go

             After completion of 3 month’s of intense training prescribed for men, the 21 women inducted in to Tamil Nadu’s elite commando unit last week were another first for the state police.  They are the country’s first women commandos.  “We are even fit to catch Veerapan”, said a confident P. Kaliammal, who topped the group.  She is 24 years old and an expert capable of handling the AK-47 and LMG.  “We plan to have 90 commandos who would form a company,” said. Rajendran, IG, Operations.  P. Vijaya said her proudest moment would be the day they are drafted for VVIP security.

NSG may induct women soon

 New Delhi.  The National Security Guards, India’s elite counter-terrorism force, is considering a proposal to induct women commandos, says its chief.  His force was planning to recruit women into the force, which played a key role in ending the terrorist siege of the Swaminarayan temple in Gujarat last year.  Even Tamil Nadu has already started a women’s commando force and West Bengal is going to have one too.
