It is our worst nightmare both in the news and in fiction; nuclear weapons in the hands of terrorists. In this fast paced action thriller; a coup takes place in Pakistan and their President is assassinated. As Pakistan falls into chaos, other countries' intelligence and militaries realize that Pakistan's nuclear stockpile is at risk. Pakistani forces, al-qaeda terrorists, and US forces race to seize the stockpile of weapons. US forces get to the site to discover that they were too late and that the terrorists had been there and made off with 24 nuclear weapons. It is frightening clear to everyone what Al Qaeda would do with 24 nuclear weapons. This is something that cannot be allowed to happen. US military and CIA assets go on worldwide alert in an attempt to find the terrorists and the nuclear weapons before they can get them out of the barren mountain regions and towards their targets. Israel; who knows about being a terrorist target, sends some of its personnel in the action as well, to prevent being a target again. The President fearing the worst due to the missing weapons threatens massive retaliation to Arab countries in the Middle East. He also lets other world leaders know that they are with us or against us and not just in name alone. He warns them of the consequences if they continue to offer safe haven to terrorists in their countries. The clock ticks away as the terrorists rush to get away with the weapons and the " good guys " rush to find them and stop them. Of course Murphy's law is alive and well, and things are not going good for the "good guys". It looks as if the terrorists will get away with the weapons. However, there is a surprise element to the story, which no one could have guessed which I will not spoil for you. It is one of those books you have to finish once you start to see how it turns out.
