Terrorism: The Untold Story by P.M. Das.

Martyrdom comes at a price for the police:  There is a dire need for giving legal protection to policemen involved in anti-terrorist work.

Gurbachan Jagat – The Indian State has not taken effective care of the families of police officers and men killed by terrorists.  The public at large is also not aware of the shortcomings in this area.  P.M. Das’s book will go a long way in filling this void.  The author has discussed the impact of crime on victims and terrorism on police families by comparing the situation here with that of other countries.  He has dealt in details the situation that arose in Punjab and has collated available data on the number of policemen killed, their families and their break-up.  He has also meticulously compiled the welfare measures already in existence in India and made a comparative study of the facilities available in various Indian states, and has made both long-term and short-term recommendations.  He has rightfully laid stress on giving compensation to victims of crime.  The rehabilitation should include policemen also.  There is a dire need for giving legal protection to policemen involved in anti-terrorist operations.
