Beginning of Professionalism

"The lesson of history has been nobody learns the lesson", so goes the age-old Hegelian adage. This is rather unfortunate, especially in this age of information explosion, when, it is said, the learned belongs to the past and the future belongs to the learner. The apathy towards learning among the security fraternity is at times astounding. It builds on the feeling, one presumes, that the shining uniform donned by a security professional bestows on him all the virtues one needs to acquire. That means one ceases to learn when one should really begin. Professionalism in security industry, therefore, receives a setback. The best trainer is he who leaves a trainee thirsting for knowledge, and that will be the first step towards turning professional. And security as a distinct discipline will survive only when security practitioners will start paying attention to garner knowledge, that is, start becoming a learner. The faster we do, the better.

The IISSM remains dedicated to help the cause.

Three Cheers for IISSM!

We have reasons to pat ourselves on the back. The first issue of our Newsletter has indeed evoked extremely favourable response, leading us to moan why we did not venture on this earlier. Constructive suggestions and contributions have been received. We salute our well-wishers for words of encouragement and shall look forward to continued guidance and support from them. We are reproducing elsewhere in this Newsletter some of the observations form readers and friends
