Distress alarms for senior citizens in South Delhi

New Delhi - After launching an adoption drive for its senior citizens, by school students, the south district police are now planning to install panic buttons at their homes, which will be in the form of wrist or locket watches. The panic button will have three extensions. The main button would be with the senior citizen, its first extension would be in the local police station, the second one with a relative and the third at the control room of the private company which will provide this technology. Each gadget costs Rs.10,000/-. If a house is burgled, the panic button, which will be having three extensions, would send alarm signals to the local police station. Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) Vivek Gogia informed the High Court about the project when he was present to give an update about a case where four sons are fighting with their mother over their share in Rs. one crore worth of property. The proposal has also been supported by the High Court promising financial help to the police.
