An Appeal and A Demand on Behalf of Private Security.

There are about 3.50 lakh security agencies working in the country. They a multi crore business. Nothing much has been done to streamline its structural frames. What the people get in return is a culture of semi literate, low paid work force which cannot do anything to even to prevent losses to its "guarded" premises. The fault lies not with the workforce but with the organisers of these security agencies and the Government which is taking things lying down for quite sometime. Perhaps it is waiting for something like World Trade Tower incident in New Delhi to happen again and that too on a bigger scale. There are number of incidents which are sounding alarm bells provided they are audible to the people in power. The Bangalore Police arrested the chief of a Security agency who had morphed his photograph with the Prime Minister, DPM and infosys chief to enlarge his image, He would not have been arrested but for a case of cheating in the Bangalore University campus. The case of ICICI guards indulging in robbery in the bank itself is another glaring example.

It would be proper to frame guidelines for private security agencies as done by Delhi Police making it mandatory for Security agencies to register themselves with the Police. They should also be asked to get the identity verified of their personnel especially when many of them come from unknown backgrounds and have no reasonable proof of identity.
